If
you enjoy fresh pasta check out Wiley's World Pasta Co.
By Cleve Twitchell If you enjoy fresh pasta check out Wiley's World Pasta Co. at 1606 Ashland St, in Ashland. It's one of those hole-in-the-wall places, with just four tables or so, and open only for lunch. But the fresh organic pasta is very good. Most lunches cost 5.25. You pick the sauce and the kind of pasta you want; the meal includes green salad and bread. I chose a pesto dish with basil, garlic, olive oil, pine nuts and parmesan, served over spinach linguine. The fresh grated parmesan was served on the side, as was a berry vinaigrette dressing for the salad. Other topping choices include roasted olives with basil and sun-dries tomatoes, roasted garlic and capers, and feta cheese with garlic and sun-dried tomatoes. Or you can try marinara, alfredo or a hunan sauce with tofu or chicken. Chicken pesto and smoked salmon ravioli are also listed. Types of pasta include the expected spaghetti, angel hair, linguine, and fettuccine, but also rotini(spiral) and papperadlle (flat noodles an inch wide). Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wiley's is near the Beanery. Recently opening next door is Four and Twenty Blackbirds, noted for pies, cookies, cakes and cheesecakes. Besides meals, Wiley's sells pasta to take home. |
